Research Bioinformatician (London)

Proteome Sciences plc, a global leader in applied proteomics and biomarker research, is currently expanding its scientific team based in London, UK.

We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced bioinformatician to join our dynamic and entrepreneurial team based in South London. The successful candidate will use their in-depth knowledge of bioinformatics and computational biology to support protein biomarker discovery and assay development using mass spectrometry.

The Bioinformatics post holder will primarily provide bioinformatics support for biomarker validation experiments in our mass spectrometry facility within the Institute of Psychiatry, London. The work will require experience in biostatistics and an understanding of assay performance characterization methods. Opportunities also exist to develop novel software applications to assist the workflows used in the laboratory.

Requirements:

Candidates should have a Postgraduate degree in bioinformatics and a demonstrated experience of Perl and Java programming in a biological context. Knowledge and experience of the R statistical programming environment is desirable. Individuals should be strong team players with an ability for self-directed, independent work. The post will involve some travel to our facility in Frankfurt, Germany and to conferences and client sites worldwide.

Senior Mass Spectrometrist (London)

Proteome Sciences plc, a global leader in applied proteomics and biomarker research, is currently expanding its scientific team based in London.

We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced mass spectrometrist to join our dynamic and entrepreneurial team based in London.

Requirements:

Candidates for the role of Senior Mass Spectrometrist should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology and at least 5 years hands on experience in microbore and capillary LC-MS and MS/MS in a life sciences environment. Ideally they will also have developed SRM assays e.g. for small molecules, biopharmaceuticals or biomarkers in an analytical environment. Experience with electrospray, MALDI-Tof and/or MALDI-Tof/Tof techniques, on latest generation instruments (Orbitrap, triple quadrupole, Q-Tof, ToFToF) is essential. Additional requirements include experience with multi-dimensional LC separation techniques, automated data processing and database searching. The use of liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS, LC-MS/MS) and matrix assisted laser desorption/ionisation (MALDI-Tof, MALDI-Tof/Tof) techniques will be utilized as appropriate. The tasks may also include de-novo sequencing of peptides and proteins and the analysis of post-translational modifications using MS/MS.

Individuals should be team players with the ability for self-directed, independent work, strong communication and leadership skills. Very good spoken and written English are also essential. The post will involve some travel to our facility in Frankfurt, Germany and to conferences and client sites worldwide. Senior Scientist Biomarkers (Frankfurt)

Currently, we are seeking to fill the role of a Senior Scientist, Biomarkers in our medical research team based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The medical research team is responsible for implementing, directing and supervising proteomics biomarker services. The team plays a key role in developing new application areas for proteomics services. The associate works directly with our clients and internal technology groups to provide scientific resource and expert advice on study and assay design, feasibility and technology selection in biomarker development projects. This involves a mix of R&D activities and communication and project management activities. The associate will present data to various groups and prepare reports, scientific manuscripts and posters.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Position requires a PhD in biological science or related field.
  • 2-3 years of post-doctoral work with demonstrated understanding and experience working in research and technologies related to biomarker research.
  • Expertise in biomarker assay development utilizing LC-MS/MS and ELISA technologies and biochemical & cellular-based assays is required.
  • Highly skilled in conducting research, data interpretation and writing reports.
  • Highly skilled in performing scientific presentations and preparing scientific publications.
  • Experience in conducting and managing research grants is a plus
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Project management and problem solving skills.

Scientist / Senior Scientist Bioinformatics (m/f) (Frankfurt)

We partner with innovative companies and academic research groups offering high sensitivity, proprietary technologies for protein and peptide biomarker discovery, validation and assay development.

We are now seeking to fill a new post of an experienced hands-on scientist in bioinformatics for our unit in Frankfurt am Main (Germany).

Scientist / Senior Scientist Bioinformatics (m/f)

The successful candidate will provide valuable contribution for our PS biomarker services in proteomics and peptidomics. This will be through analysis and mining of mass spectrometric and pharmacological data sets with subsequent biological interpretation. The daily responsibilities will include:

  • Primary data analysis of “omics” data and similar multivariate datasets with a view to biomarker discovery and validation.
  • Data mining, regression and pathway analysis of biomarker data using automated workflows and development of computational tools
  • Provision of expert data mining and experimental design within interdisciplinary project teams for customer and in-house projects

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Computer Sciences or related disciplines with a bioinformatics orientation and a strong mathematical background
  • Extensive research experience in bioinformatics data analysis with a focus on large omics data sets.
  • Strong background in statistics, applied mathematics, excellent skills in R highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and team player who is highly organized. Experience of working in a multinational pharmaceutics or biotechnology environment will be helpful.
