Professor William Dawson

Bill Dawson retired from Eli Lilly and Company having been Research Director in the UK and, latterly, Director of Technology Acquisition, Europe. He is a Director of Bionet Limited and a Governor of the University of Brighton, a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Dr Julian Duncan

Julian Duncan retired from Abbott-Murex Biotech at the end of 2003 after 10 years service as Manager of R&D and Director of Technical Quality. Prior to that, he was Director of Research and Development at IDEXX Europe and a research scientist at Wellcome Diagnostics. He received the Queen’s Award to Industry for Technical Achievement, as the leader of the Wellcome Diagnostics HIV research team and is author of over 70 scientific publications.

Professor Denis Hochstrasser

Denis Hochstrasser is the Head of Clinical Chemistry at the University of Geneva, committee member of the International Congress of Electrophoresis Societies, President of the Swiss Electrophoresis Society, and a member of the Scientific Swiss Council. Author of over 200 scientific publications, he is a recognised authority in protein markers.

Professor Brian Anderton

Brian Anderton has been Professor of Neuroscience and Head of Department since 1988, when the Department of Neuroscience at the Institute of Psychiatry was first established. His research interests lie principally in the area of neurodegeneration and, particularly, Alzheimer’s disease. He is also Chair of the Institute’s Neurodegeneration Interdisciplinary Research Group, which numbers approximately 100 researchers in a range of clinical and non-clinical disciplines, and Chair of the MRC Co-operative Group on Neurodegeneration.

Dr Jean-Charles Sanchez

Jean-Charles Sanchez has worked in the field of proteomics since 1989 and is Head of the Geneva Proteomics Centre of the Central Clinical Chemistry Laboratory, Geneva University Hospital. The activities of his group include the development of the SWISS-2DPAGE database, the molecular scanner concept, the immuno-PCR detection method, as well as the discovery of new disease markers and drug targets in cancer, Alzheimer’s, CJD, stroke, obesity and type II diabetes. Dr Sanchez is the author or co-author of 100 papers in refereed journals, as well as 10 book chapters. He is a member of the editorial boards of the journal ‘Proteomics’and the ‘Amino Acids and Proteins Journal’ and is on the Executive Committees of SWISS-2DSERVICE and the Swiss Proteomics Society which he founded in 2001.

Dr Anthony Walker

Dr Anthony Walker is Chief Executive of Onyvax Limited, UK, a company developing vaccines for treating cancer, which he co-founded in 1997. He spent 10 years previously as a management consultant with Arthur D Little and The Wilkerson Group in London.
