Proteome Sciences has developed a proprietary, multiplexed quantitative mass spectrometry based workflow that virtually eliminates the ratio distortion interference seen with current tandem mass spectrometry (MS2) methodologies which use isobaric labeling techniques. The new and exclusive MS3 TMT® workflow is a powerful augmentation of the widely used Tandem Mass Tag isobaric labeling technology developed by Proteome Sciences. The workflow is offered as an option for all assays and applications available through PS Biomarker ServicesTM, and can be applied to any multiplexed mass spectrometry assay which utilizes Tandem Mass Tag (TMT) isobaric labeling

Use of triple-stage mass spectrometry (MS3) has been shown to overcome the inherent interference of more commonly used two-stage (MS2) workflows when isobaric labeling strategies are used with complex samples to enable multiplexed analyte analysis. Incorporating a third isolation and fragmentation step of the TMT® labeled protein samples, the new workflow all but eliminates the ratio distortion interference effect and enables far greater accuracy of reporting quantitative results.

The new MS3 TMT® protocols can be used across the board for all multiplexed mass spectrometry assays employing TMT® isobaric labels. The workflow is anticipated to be equally useful as both a discovery tool and as a method used in clinical research and diagnostic applications:
