Brain Damage Assays (Currently In Development)
Assess signs for a variety of brain conditions simultaneously
Diagnostic imaging technologies such as CT and MRI can be used for assessment of brain damage resulting from head trauma or disease pathology. However, such techniques may not be able to accurately determine the underlying causes of brain damage and thus make patient treatment decisions and prognosis difficult. Measurement of protein markers found in human CSF and blood following injury or damage to the brain may help in correctly diagnosing and evaluating conditions such as traumatic brain injury, ischemic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, neuro-degenerative disease and brain tumors.
| Applications | Sample Types | Species | Analysis Method |
| Drug discovery for variety of brain damage disorders | CSF | Human | AQUA-SRM Peptide Mass Spectrometry |
| *Clinical analysis, early disease detection/prognostic | *Plasma | Human | AQUA-SRM Peptide Mass Spectrometry |
* In Development
Proteome Sciences is developing two unique AQUA-SRM mass spectrometry assays based on their patented protein panels that permit simultaneous multiplexed measurement of biomarkers in human CSF samples that can be used in the evaluation of brain damage. Assays are currently in development for analysis of some of these brain damage related biomarkers in human plasma samples.
