Jeremy Haigh - Chief Executive Officer
Jeremy Haigh has spent 30 years in the bioscience sector in a variety of clinical research, development, operational and leadership roles, experiencing both traditional pharmaceutical and biotechnology environments at Merck Research Laboratories and at Amgen where most recently he was the European Chief Operating Officer for Research & Development. He has been closely associated with the development and registration of a number of new molecular entities in different therapeutic areas, and retains a particular interest in precision medicine and in neurological diseases reflecting his basic training in neuropharmacology.
A strong advocate for the biopharmaceutical industry over many years, with significant involvement in healthcare policy and government affairs in both the UK and Europe, Jeremy served on the board of the BioIndustry Association (BIA) from 2006-13, and was a long-standing member of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries (EFPIA) Research Directors Group, and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industries (ABPI) Innovation Board. He is currently Chairman of Cogent SSC Ltd and a member of the Advisory Council for Imperial College Health Partners.
Dr. Ian Pike - Chief Scientific Officer
Ian Pike has over 20 years’ experience working in the diagnostics and biotechnology sectors. Having gained a PhD in Medical Microbiology, he joined Welcome Diagnostics as a research group leader and spent 8 years working on new diagnostic assays, particularly for hepatitis. In December 1999, he joined the Technology Transfer Office of the UK Medical Research Council with responsibility for patents and commercialization of a wide portfolio of technologies related to the biomedical sector. Most recently, Ian worked for Cancer Research Ventures managing intellectual property and performing business development activities in Europe and the USA.
Geoff Ellis - Chief Financial and Commercial Services Officer
Geoff Ellis has a B Sc (Honours) in Mathematics from the University of Durham. He is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience in a range of senior financial, general management, sales and business development roles.He spent almost 15 years at Walt Disney, his roles included CFO of the Network of Disney Channels in EMEA, a $500m turnover business, Managing Director of Disney Chanel Scandinavia, Middle East and Emerging Markets and SVP Business Development & Distribution where he negotiated deals and put together teams to launch Disney Channels in Central and Eastern Europe and Africa.
In 2010 Geoff was appointed COO of Travel Channel International. He made a major contribution to the growth of the business and to the highly profitable sale to Scripps Networks Interactive. Geoff joined Proteome Sciences in September 2014 as Finance Director with additional responsibility for managing and expanding commercial sales and marketing in USA and Europe. Geoff lives in Surrey and is married with 3 grown up children. When time allows he is a keen bridge player, rugby referee, retired cricketer and football supporter.
Dr. Josef Schwarz - Chief Compliance Officer
Joseph Schwarz joined the Group in summer 2002 when Xzillion, the former proteomics division of Aventis Research and Technologies, was acquired by Proteome Sciences plc. He worked for Aventis/Hoechst Research and Technologies for 6 years, initially as head of mass spectrometry and later as research collaboration project leader. He was instrumental in the establishment of the integrated high throughput 2DE/mass spectrometry proteomics platform at the Frankfurt research facility. Josef Schwarz holds a PhD in organic chemistry/mass spectrometry from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany and a MBA from the University of Durham, UK. He is an author of a number of publications and co-inventor of patents.
Christopher Pearce - Chairman
Christopher Pearce has built the Group since inception and has been responsible for the formulation and implementation of strategy, collaborative and licensing agreements, and intellectual property. He was co-founder and Executive Chairman of Fitness First plc, the international fitness chain.
Professor William Dawson (i) (ii) - Board Member
Professor William Dawson retired from Eli Lilly and Company in August 1996 after 27 years' service, 14 as Research Director in the UK and latterly as Director of Technology Acquisition, Europe. He is a Director of Bionet Ltd, and a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He currently chairs Discover Assist, the advisory early discovery arm of Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst, the Scientific Advisory Committee of Oxford PharmaScience Ltd, and the Advisory Committee of the Nottingham University Centre for Doctoral Training in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Roger McDowell (i) (ii) - Board Member
Roger McDowell has a highly successful career as a businessman and entrepreneur. He was Chief Executive of Oliver Ashworth Group plc for eighteen years before its sale to St Gobain. He is currently the Chairman or a non-executive director of seven listed companies, namely Avingtrans plc, Servelec Group plc, Swallowfield plc, D4t4 Solutions plc, PTSG plc, Tribal Group plc and ThinkSmart plc. He brings considerable commercial experience with him and is a keen exponent of growing shareholder value..
Martin Diggle (i) (ii) - Board Member
Mr. Diggle has worked in finance for over 30 years. He was a director and partner of UBS/Brunswick in Russia until 2003, after which he joined Vulpes Investment Management, where he is currently a director and partner. He is an experienced specialist investor in life sciences and manages the Vulpes Life Sciences Fund, the registered holder of 15.6% of Proteome Sciences' ordinary share capital.
